If you're already fast with sketchup it's perfectly suitable for what you want. Learning Fusion is a worthwhile endeavor regardless, it's great. But it's not going to be immensely better for what you want. others may disagree. Sketchup plugins for woodworking probably give it an edge over fusion in that regard.
