Woodworking majors learn to create from wood. They learn how to layout and shape lumber; measure, cut, and combine parts; sand and finish wood products; and use hand and power tools. Explore this major in more depth on Roadmap to Careers.

The scholarship can be used to cover tuition, housing, books, or any education-related expenses. The monthly winner will be determined by random drawing and then contacted directly and announced in Niche's e-newsletter and on the Scholarship Winners page. You can apply once each month, with a new winner selected every month.

The Foundation will establish the John B. Smith Scholarship Fund to benefit students enrolled in woodworking courses at Cerritos College. Scholarships will be available starting later this year. Cerritos College has offered woodworking courses for more than four decades.

Each year one first-year student at The Krenov School (formerly College of the Redwoods) Fine Woodworking program is selected to receive this $5,000 award based on merit and need. All first year applicants accepted to the program can apply for the Jack Romine Scholarship. The winner of the 2018 Scholarship of $5000 is Steven Slusarski
